News about Olympus from Olympus.
All products in the pipeline will ship as announced and they have added new lenses to the 'road map'. That means that the 150-400 f4.5 Pro with built in 1.25x converter (making it 375-500 or 750-1000 ff equiv) will ship late this year. The new lenses are an 8-25 f4 Pro (16-50 mm ff) and a tele macro lens (rumored to be 100-150mm). The 100-400 Premium lens will ship sometime this summer. A new camera has been patented in Russia as well other lenses.
They have also released the beta version of web cam software to make OM-D cameras into web cameras. Things seem to be continuing as usual at this point.
Beyond this there are far too many conflicting and purely speculative things in the ether to know anything for certain EXCEPT the camera line will continue to exist. That may not mean that everything will be rosy, just ask Pentax afficionados. On the other hand the Minolta brand was bought by Sony which turned it into the A-7 line. Olympus employees are in the dark as much as we are but are understandably nervous as everybody is sure a re-structure will mean lay-offs.
And in case you're wondering, YES! I will buy the 150-400 f4.5 when it ships. I may have to sell my car, but by gosh I will own that lens! Maybe the new Macro too . . .
