Catching the Light on Bluebird Lane

I got lucky!

In the following ways--

two birds
both faces in view
stayed there long enough to focus
no leaves blocking them
not robins, bluejays, mockingbirds or sparrows (had enough of them)
bluebirds!
one with really ruffled feathers (makes detail stand out)
chirping
some light shining on them..........through the trees!!

And a backlit, negative space bluebird photo!

Seriously, that is a wonderful shot.

I have four little blue birds that frequent my bird bath. Haven't been able to catch them yet. They're so polite, all four sharing the bath at the same time and gently splish splashing. Unlike the blue jays who hog it and splash it dry.

If every single person was aware that there is a difference between bluebirds and bluejays!! Some people think all blue birds are bluebirds. :

Some years I don't get a pair to move in. This year I got two clutches of chicks. I love to sit out in the backyard and watch them work.

Well, so is the western bluebird but I prefer the eastern bluebird.

I don't remember ever seeing a western bluebird. Need to look for one on vacation sometime.

I grew up around the eastern bluebird, that's probably why I like it better. The mountain bluebird is also beautiful.
