(14,559 posts)There is, for lack of a better word, more texture to the thinner phases of the moon as the sunlight grazes the surface illuminating and outlining the craters. Well done as always Dear Peg.

(149,625 posts)I really appreciate them.
I like how you describe the thinner layers. That's really accurate. I was so happy the way this one turned out. F 11 and shutter speed was 10/1250 seconds. I think!
Thank you so much, dear flamin lib.

(149,625 posts)I don't mind having the seasons come and go, actually. Of course, out here in California, they're more wet and dry seasons than in other parts of the country.
I love the moon in a dark blue sky! It's easier to see the details.
Thanks for coming by and having a look, my dear OAITW r.2.0.

(23,995 posts)...sliver of a crescent moon 2 nights ago, and she said it looked like a nail clipping g, which I have often thought myself, although that is a most unflattering term for something so beautiful.
After pondering that much of the day, I told her that I thought we should call it a French manicure moon. We agreed we like that description much better.
