Camera rumors 2021

2020 sucked. Sales suffered so cash flow suffered so R&D suffered and well, you get my drift.

New year and new optimism so new rumors! Link at the bottom.

For the first time in a long time I'm impressed with Canon's direction and innovation! They seem to be going whole hog on mirrorless. Some really neat new hardware on the way, some of it remarkably like the Alice project. Canon has nibbled around the edges of what software and platform interface can do and that seems to have primed them for the next step if rumors are all true.

Nikon is putting some of it's eggs in mirrorless and keeping some in DSLR. Some new gear in both areas but IMO disappointing.

Olympus is, well, OMD/JIP/Olympus for now/??? They're going to be around but no hard new announcements. Teases of teases so to speak. The good news is that they are committed to the Miatiani philosophy of directed innovation. They have a central direction and are leaner and more maneuverable than the Medical parent company allowed. Can't wait to see what happens next!

Sony, Fugi and Panny are a bit quiet but that probably won't last long as when the Pandemic winds down and activity picks up so will production and innovation. I think/know Sony has designs on Canon's #1 position in full frame.
