Edit: Actually, probably more like Galadriel and Celeborn's Lothlórien.

(2,125 posts)I would not have guessed WHAT the image would have looked like in infrared, but it is gorgeous.

(14,559 posts)green leaves look white, water is deep black and the blue sky becomes very dark. It's fun to use in the spring when everything is verdant and green.

(149,712 posts)I don't really know that much about infrared photography, so I always wonder what's going on. It's like a brand-new world to me.
Thanks for opening the door!

(14,559 posts)FWIW most post processing software has an IR imitation under effects. It comes close to interpreting what a visible spectrum image would look like in IR. It tends to fall short in representing water, the sky and some more subtle aspects of the real deal. That said, sometimes the interpretation is more pleasing.

(10,779 posts)... by removing the IR filter and using a piece of developed but unexposed film negative as a visible light filter. Standard CMOS sensors are sensitive to near-IR, but not the full spectrum of a "thermal" camera. It was fun -- foliage looks a lot like your photo and water looks black -- but I used a cheap and fairly crappy camera, so the images were very low quality. Now that pretty good action cameras are cheap, maybe it's time to give it another try.
