(23,344 posts)Shes not with you any longer?
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,726 posts)No, she's been gone for more than 20 years. She had a good life, and a long one, for a big dog. I think she was 13 or so when she died. She wasn't having fun any more. It was tough to see her go, but we had no choice.
But before all that, she was spoiled completely and loved us so much! I have great memories...

(149,726 posts)And she was my daughter! I hadn't yet gone to work when we got her, and so I was home with her. What a difference that made!

Of a very sweet dog. 🙂

(149,726 posts)It was the best one I ever got of her. It shows her intelligence and curiosity. She was also very sweet.....and spoiled!

(149,726 posts)My husband and I had both grown up with dogs and we wanted our girls to have that experience too.
And as a result, they and their families have dogs also.

(9,679 posts)We had to put ours down about 10 years ago and cannot bring ourselves to replace her. Strike that, she'll never be replaced. Maybe getting another to carry on in her place is a better way to say it.
Beside our cats, each of our kids have dogs of their own and they kind of fill the doggo need, but it just ain't the same.

My husband and I decided, after she died, that there wouldn't be any more pets for us. We'd had a lot, and as we got older, we saw how much work a pet would be.
It was a good choice for us.
