Second try on star trails

Moved the tripod off the deck to the garage roof, more stable there so star trails are smoother. I didn't have a racoon last night so had to paint the tree and I overdid it. Tried to burn it in in post but that looks funky. Lesson learned, use dimmer light and paint slowly watching the LCD display.

I like how this works. The clouds moved in during the last 15 minutes but the star trails and meteors were already on the sensor so they look like they were under the clouds!

Fun stuff!

It's great to just sit on the balcony and sip wine while the camera does all the work!

I like your Osprey pics. Don't have a nest nearby so I gotta' work with the city lighted sky. It's fun to do something different and stretch a bit.

like painting the tree with a flood light I mess it up. It's a learning curve and I'm enjoying the climb!

There's also a major airport nearby so there's a lot of aircraft nav lights making dotted lines but it's a great way to spend a summer evening.

Is the single dot in the lower half of the photo the North Star? It's the only object I see that everything else is circling around.

And I see a couple of lines that might be meteors.

Nice work!

Just got lucky and pointed the camera to what I knew was North.

There are a couple of meteors--lines that cross the circular star trails--as well as two aircraft dotted lines.

This is all just a learning experience in case I'm ever in a dark sky area.

Stretch, learn and push yourself and your equipment. It's fun.
