Of interest to Zuikophiles only (users of formerly Olympus, henceforth OMDS, cameras)

OM Digital Solutions (formerly Olympus Camera) has registered a new camera in Asia at last. It is equipped with Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz) and Bluetooth. Speculation is that it will share a form factor with the EM-1 and it MAY be the 'wow factor' camera rumored earlier this year. Not much hard information beyond what little can be gleaned from the registration.

There is also the possibility of a new 40-150 f4 lens to compliment the unreasonably sharp 40-150 f2.8. This would be in keeping with the company philosophy dating back to the mid '70s; one top end fast aperture lens and a second more compact but optically equivalent to larger lens.

These would be the first products not already in the roadmap when OMDS purchased Olympus Imaging Div. Both to be formally announced in early '22.

As an aside, the VP of OMDS said in an interview earlier this year that pixel count would not be a problem for the 4/3 sensor because the lenses can easily resolve 200 mp. Then just a week or so ago Samsung announced a new cell phone sensor with 200 mp that works some pretty spectacular firmware magic. Link to the article is here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/103690899

OMDS is partnered with Samsung for cell phone camera development. The company has announced that they will partner with others in the future (they are currently offering firmware updates for Sigma and Tamron lenses). Could this mean a high pixel count sensor based on the Samsung technology? Inquiring minds want to know . . .
