Hello DU'ers! As some of you know, my wife & I host a website documenting our travels by train across the U.S.A. & Canada, North America By Rail: https://northamericabyrail.info/
Well some of my photos have been noticed by a 3rd party. Below are some links to some free virtual jigsaw puzzles made from our train travel pics by http://www.train-puzzles.com
They ask us permission each time, so far they have made 8 of my pics into jigsaw puzzles!
Here are the pics, and below them are the links to the puzzle for that particular pic:

(18,628 posts)A train can't fire up it's boiler without someone aiming a camera at it, and no wonder. Just look how unique, complex, and powerful each one is. There are no bad angles.
Great images!

(1,797 posts)I've been on a few steam fan trips. Strasburg Railroad in PA, Alberni Pacific in BC, the Erie Ltd led by NKP 765 in Western NY, and the Grand Canyon Ltd led by ATSF 3751 from LA to the Grand Canyon.

(18,628 posts)Several years ago I took the AMTRAK Broadway Special that runs from Chi-Town to NYC for New Years Eve. I picked it up here in Youngstown and enjoyed coach travel in seats that actually recline and a picture window view of America's back yards.
Got to see The Horseshoe Bend and miles of small Pennsylvania towns and several medium ones (I think we stopped in all of them). Then I discovered the bar car. There I learned that single women lose inhibitions when they are certain they'll never see each other again. The bartender had a Rudolph Red nose and seemed to run out of gin in a hurry, but it didn't matter, I was having a ball.
Then when we hit Phili we hopped on a fast train to the NYC subway and Pennsylvania Station. I stowed by bag in a locker and walked up the steps to Manhattan where they were setting up for the big event. The rest was a blur. I didn't take too many pictures because it was 35mm film and Fotomat.

(1,797 posts)People chiming in that they did them in under 30 min, much better than the 1hr it took me - considering they're my own photos, LOL!

(972 posts)When did your interest begin?
I remember my brother and I had an old electric train set we got for Xmas (well hed say it was his and he let me use it - older brothers!).
I can still smell the oil smell it had as it went around the track..

(1,797 posts)I'm guessing I was born with a love of trains as something clicked when I received my first Lionel train set when I was 8.
So I can certainly relate to your experience. Guess I was fortunate in that my sister wasn't too interested in the trains though, so didn't have to compete for them

Posters sound like a really good idea too, unlike calendars they don't become dated.
Thanks!
