Andromeda was his favorite.
He had a 4.5 inch refractor
telescope and a ten inch Dobsonian.
In WI the best times are winter. He froze so many times.

(5,113 posts)4. winter is usually the best time as the cold dry air reduces distortion
i used a williams redcat which is more of a lens than a telescope. its not much bigger than a 70-200 f2.8 lens and costs a lot less.
i prefer winter shooting too since im in texas and summer is stupid hot. I shot this just outside of austin ,in the first suburb north of teh city

(60,071 posts)5. Very good image. Many don't know it is visible by eye in dark locations.
Using averted eyes helps seeing in the dark.
