November photo contest?

Howzit gonna work? There's no thread for 2021 volunteers hosting although the 2020 thread is still pinned even though it's been over for awhile now. I know I volunteered for either this month or December, I didn't make a note of it so not sure. Is there a theme? Thanksgiving is the 25th so getting an early start in order to be finished with the contest a couple days beforehand would be nice. Of course if someone else is planning to host it this month then you can disregard my questions!

I forget... does shalom also mean hello as well as farewell?

shalom in everyday usage, can mean either “hello” or “goodbye.” ... The traditional greeting among Jews is shalom aleichem, peace unto you; to which the response is aleichem shalom, to you, peace.

Now I've learned a new greeting! I know shalom haverim from the song - we were taught it when I was in Catholic grade school and used to sing it at advent time.

President Biden's local parish, and were asked by their teachers to explain the meaning of Hanukkah to their classes.

I unpinned the 2021 volunteer thread and that was probably a mistake! I am sorry. It is down our first page a bit.

However, I am aware that you volunteered to do this November and I have the seasonal contest for Autumn in December.

It looks as though Heartstrings won October's contest, so she gets to choose the theme for November!

Ok I'll be hosting it then so I'd like to get it started maybe the 15th with first round so we can have it done a couple days before TG (and Hanukkah too gee it's early this year), if that's all right with you folks. If Heartstrings would be so kind as to reveal her choice in the next day or two so we have ample time to comb through our archives or go out and take some new pix fitting the subject I would appreciate it greatly, via post or pm me!

5. It would be good if you can post a timeline that shows when all the events will happen.

That way, folks know what will happen when.

I'm eager to find out as I'm sure others are! Then I'll repeat and amplify it when I post a timeline for entries, etc. hopefully soon. I have to prepare my (late) dinner so I'll be back later tonight. Unless you'd rather have me do it then of course pm me. I'm easy!

13. Sounds great!

A popular subject for photography so hopefully we'll get lots of entries. Rainbows, mirages, for example, are reflections of light maybe on the far side, they could be included don't you think? I'll also post calls for entries in the lounge and maybe sneak a few into GD that place can really use some lightening up!
So I'll work on the time schedule and post it later tonight (I'm on west coast so our easterly members might not see it 'til tomorrow)

The theme was one of the suggestions from Grumpy Old Man and yes it can go in any direction so this hopefully should be fun!
