Related: About this forumDahlias - Color - a second post about the Island of "Mainau"
Posting flower photos here is like carrying coal to Newcastle, I know.
Yet I can't help it. The Island was ablaze in Dahlias. There was a contest to vote for your favorite one.
The prize was a substantial amount of Euros and I put down my Moms name and address.
On five entries.

(60,010 posts)They can be tricky to grow. The ones in the pics look incredibly healthy. Such vivid colors.
I hope your Mom wins!!!!

(22,380 posts)acres of it. I don't know what it takes to tend it. The people casting their votes are in the many thousands. But if Mom wins, I'll ask her to send you a bunch of dahlias.

I can't take my eyes off those photographs, Mira! Beyond beautiful!

(22,380 posts)I am honored beyond words that you chose a post of mine for your first one. You have come to one of the happiest most congenial groups on DU, a great place to start a happy association.
Come back often, and, again, a hearty welcome!
I'll be keeping an eye out for you.

(12,665 posts)For the warm welcome.
I lurk here in the Photo Forum quite a bit. It is as you say; the happiest group on DU.
I am an amateur photo hog and would love to share some photos with you guys when I get enough post. I assume you can't post pics until you reach a certain number of post? I look forward to the critique of some of you experts.
Anyway, thank you again for the nice welcome. There are so so many fabulous pictures in this group!

(149,632 posts)Please feel free!
You WILL need a photo hosting site to do it, though. Photobucket is a popular choice.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got!

(12,665 posts)I will give this a try and since this is a thread with Mira's wonderful flowers, I will try one with a bee!

(12,665 posts)I hope I can get it to work. DU doesnt seem user friendly when it comes to poasting pics. lol

(149,632 posts)I'm not sure which link you're using.....I think the one that says "direct link" is the best one. Then you won't have all the distracting type at the top and bottom of your pictures.
But these are beautiful!
Keep on posting!
Mira
(22,380 posts)you posted them. Like Peggy said I suggest you use the second link in the line-up of four different links in photobucket called: direct link.
Also, your beautiful shots are lost in my old thread. I hope your next ones will have their own post under your name. I look forward to them. I have the second one of them here and yes, great shot of the bee, but I'm especially taken by the flower she is on. It looks like old fashioned wallpaper. Really nice.

(12,665 posts)I am going to try to start a thread with some fall pics I took this past weekend. Thanks to you and CalPeggy I think I can do it with a little confidence.
I searched for a pic of the flowers you liked and found this. Its not as colorful but I like it. We call it wild laurel but I really do not know what it is.

(22,380 posts)I'm honored you posted this so I could see it. I'll be looking for you to participate around here, I'm glad you started to post.

(12,665 posts)You have been so welcoming. It is greatly appreciated.
I do not have enough post yet to start my own thread, so until I do I hope you and others do not mind if I use yours. I posted a cat pic and a fall pic in other threads.
I have been under the weather tonight so it gave me time to work on transferring photos and sorting photos.
I really look forward to participating in this group as I have thoroughly enjoyed all the threads the past few months.

Glad you are "home" - is it an extended stay? I have missed your presence and your work.
Thanks for your comment.

(7,394 posts)It's a photo of a TV monitor at a group check-in at Belgrade airport, which I doctored up to look like those pilots were actually the group on tour.
I'm already back in Europe, at home in Switzerland. We were in New York for only a few days-had a concert at Lincoln Center.
I'll be working at the Zurich Opera for the next five weeks. What's especially nice about that is being able to commute to work.
I'm touched that you've missed me, Mira.
