Looks like...The Eiger, in the Swiss Alps, from the village of Grindelwald? Mister Ed Dec 2021 #2
I never did find out which mountain it is, so you could well be right! It is in the Swiss Alps. CaliforniaPeggy Dec 2021 #5
Wow. Talk about nailing the exposure in difficult lighting. Great, great! Pobeka Dec 2021 #3

And, zooming in, do I see the tracks of a skier or two, and a bit of an avalanche?

It's possible there are skier tracks or a bit of an avalanche. It was very quiet that day.

We rode a train to this viewing point; I don't recall seeing any village up there.

And the image is sharp, must've been pretty low ISO film.

The blacks are just where you'd want them and the highlights are not blown out -- just beautiful.

What a fun image to look at. Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, my short term memory has forgotten all the technical details from this photo.

I do appreciate your comments quite a lot.
