Oyez, Oyez, Oyez!

Came across this Town Crier in Camden Town today. Gotta love the juxtaposition of a centuries old tradition in an modern urban landscape. Wishing passers-by a Happy New Year. Thought I would pass it on!

Ring Bell...''Oyez, Oyez, Oyez! Happy New Year!''

(PS - if you are interested the word "Oyez" means "hear ye," which is a call for silence and attention. Oyez is from an Anglo-Norman word for listen.)

I worked with a bloke from Birmingham in Santiago, Chile. I couldn't understand a lot of what he said, I understood the Chileans better and I know little Spanish. Love the language though, so descriptive. When we told him to speak English he told us that England had the language first, Americans effed it up.

Happy New Year.

Forgive me, but I got the punctuation wrong. There would be an upside down exclamation point at the beginning.
