A few notes for Photographers . . .

https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/uk/news/its-here-the-canon-eos-r5-c-is-an-8k-60p-camera-with-no-limitations-on-shooting
The Canon EOS R5 C is an R5 on steroids, with internal 12-bit 8K 60p, Dual Base ISO and "no limitations on shooting"
The C version is a video centric camera the original R5 a stills camera. Both cameras do some of each but any compromises were made for the specific purpose of the equipment. The C has a cooling fan to allow unlimited video but in the 'stills' mode it gave up ibis. There are other differences and you can find out about them at the link. Seems it's hard to make one camera do everything perfectly.

Nikon has released a new Z mount super tele lens, a 400mm 2.8! That's one serious chunk of glass and quite the beast as you would expect for that speed. Expected resale is about $14,000. Horsepower costs money, how fast ya' wanna' go?

Panasonic and OM Systems will have an announcement on Feb 23 & 24 respectively. I'm not going to speculate on what's to be discussed, I'm tired of being teased . . .

Tokina releases SZ Super Tele 500mm F8 Reflex MF
There have been several other lenses like this announced under various name brands. I suspect they may be the same product ?? These are 'mirror' lenses also called catadoptic or reflex lenses. Full manual focus and a single aperture of f8. Quite inexpensive and some have been quite sharp (haven't seen any actual images yet). I think these go for about $250. Downsides are a unique bokeh that looks like a doughnut (it's a matter of taste) a bit of vignetteing and generally a lack of contrast. I've used these lenses back in the film days and for a super tele they are extremely light (they're hollow!) depending on the build quality are easy to focus as things are either in or out of focus at this focal length. Digital processing alleviates two of the downsides, vignetteing and contrast. These are full frame lenses so I assume the vignetteing is minimized on crop sensor cameras. Adapted for T2 mount adapters.
