(7,339 posts)I'm actually the first to enter! Must be some kind of planetary alignment.
Mine is of Mt. Shasta, taken in February a few years ago.

(149,308 posts)It's just plain gorgeous!
I think I'll go ahead and enter mine now too. Gotta get this ball rolling!

(7,339 posts)I'm glad you like my photo. I was lucky the weather was so dramatic when I went by it, there had been a blizzard that closed I-5 a couple days before and had just re-opened but there was so much snow everywhere.
Your photo is stupendous! It would make a nice mural. Quite a bit of snow on the San Gabriels! Did you take it from Griffith Park vicinity?
And thanks for your effort running another fine contest! I love the entries so far!

(149,308 posts)Thanks for your lovely words on my San Gabriel shot. I was shooting from the Kenny Hahn Wilderness Park on La Cienega in the Baldwin Hills.
That particular spot is where all the professional photographers go when they need the city skyline in front of those amazing mountains, especially when there's snow!
I've seen them there with their gear, and then soon after there are photos of this very view in the Los Angeles Times.
And thank you for the compliment! I appreciate it a lot. It takes a certain effort, but I'm retired and I have time to be here to run the contest.
We do have some absolutely amazing entries!

(149,308 posts)And it's something we don't always see.

(31,320 posts)Two pair of doves have come to feed and sit in the 80 degree sun. Only have my phone out here. But in a while I'll go inside to take a look at my phone shots.
Walleye
(30,724 posts)They are pretty far away down by the road but I got my long lens out and tried a shot. Luckily got him in midflight and all his blue gloriousness
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,308 posts)And yes, his blue is glorious!

(3,120 posts)I had a hard time making my final decision. I'm hoping we get a second entry.
I wasn't sure I would have any good entries since I moved away from the cold nearly fifty years ago.
I still might change mine.
CaliforniaPeggy
(149,308 posts)Of course you can change it if you want to, but if you do, please just put the replacement in the same slot. It does make it easier for me.
Grumpy Old Guy
(3,120 posts)I would just cut and paste into the same message.

(3,120 posts)I liked the previous photo, Mount Thompson, but I felt the foreground was cluttered. It wasn't my favorite image.
Instead I've posted "Hiking Peekabo Canyon."
Wish me luck!

(90,740 posts)No ice. No snow. Green pine trees. Heck, even my flowers were blooming well into January.
