(21,840 posts)I don't know much about horses. Sorry. What breed is Narj?

(5,420 posts)I don't know what that means Sanity Claws, except she does have quite the coat! Thanks!

(3,630 posts)sturdy, and knows how to take care of herself, including growing a super warm coat when needed. The Dutch Warmbloods were just starting to become known when I was training hunters and jumpers back in the 60s and 70s. There were just a few in the country, but already people knew how wonderful they were. So much better than Thoroughbreds in so many ways. Cool that you get to care for her in her retirement.

(3,630 posts)distracted. Classic. Hopefully nobody from the astrology group will read this.
Gemini - think of early summer when the bees are flying like mad from one flower to the next knowing they only have a very short window in which to pollinate everything. We Geminis tend to feel the same way about life and all the exciting and wonderful things it offers. We tend to be a bit surface creatures unless, like myself, we have another sign that conflicts. I tend to get caught between wanting to know everything and wanting to know each thing in depth. Tends to cause conflicts. Geminis are also the sign of the twins which mean we often go in different directions from our selves. We tend to want to know both sides of everything or we want to know about mud and deserts at the same time. Very conflicting, but how can we turn away from something so interesting?
Aries - on the other hand, tend to be very strong and know where they are going. Think of Spring and how much strength and determination it takes to break through the earth into the sun or pull the sap from the roots and begin blooming and leafing out. Awesome people. Just don't get in their way. They tend to be unstoppable. They also tend to be creative and physically active. Yeah, it all goes back to Spring and all of its characteristics as far as I'm concerned.
So there you go. Astrology in the very tiny nutshell.

(9,435 posts)I love her fuzzies. Wait until she starts shedding out. I find brushing horses and dogs to be very therapeutic for the brusher and the brushee.

(5,420 posts)Narj has begun shedding out. Big fuzzy clumps. I'll try and remember to get a picture.
Thank You!

(60,071 posts)On edit. My sister in law is an assistant trainer and foal man on a thoroughbred farm outside Lexington Ky. Shes been at it for over 40 years. She also did a stint at Rood and Riddle as barn manager.

(5,420 posts)Then again, 40 years confirms that. Narj always grows a furry fuzzy winter coat. She rarely requires a blanket in winter.
