I have been toying with the idea of a vacation, a real vacation to some place where all I do is enjoy myself, the islands around there have been attracting my attention recently.

(31,399 posts)I was here celebrating my birthday when Covid hit. Cut my trip short a week for fear I'd get stuck. Indeed, the airport was closed to flights from US for 15 months!
Been coming to Bonaire on and off for about 10 years. Thought it only right my first trip since Covid should be back here for that second week!
Everything is outside, except the flights,of course. No disruptors on the two flights here, and entry to Bonaire requires vaxxed or negative test 24 hours before flight.
US is still requiring negative tests even if vaxxed for entry into the country.

I am getting my passport updated, It lapsed during the last year. When I got my photo I quickly looked at it hoping it was a better shot than the last one, it looks exactly the same except for the shirt! Oh well, at least it wasn't worse!
I inherited a little cash last year, covid took my dying with Parkinson's mom and we all got a big surprise. So I have been thinking I need a break soon and a vacation to some place I have wanted to go, which is a long list, this year. Almost all of my travel was done while at work, time for me now that retirement is here.
Enjoy your visit there, it looks lovely.

(31,399 posts)My uncle had Parkinson's. It's a nasty disease.
I like to think my boys will be pleasantly surprised some day, myself. And I hope they treat themselves. I've lost a lot of things during my life, but the experience of travel is something that can't be replaced, and if you're lucky, will be remembered your entire life.
Enjoy your trip planning!

(86,743 posts)My mom was beyond lucid a ready to go, it could have taken years had she not contract the virus in one of the several assisted living places she passed through during her rapid decline. It was sad but a blessing as it happened quickly after she was diagnosed.
I sure am looking forward to a vacation. I was thinking of relocating this year but it's shaping up to look like there are no places where housing is available, there certainly isn't any around here. I was lucky to get the place I'm in right now so, since I have to stay put, I need to travel some.

(31,399 posts)The covered patio of my hotel room looks out onto the marina access. This guy and his much smaller friend were out on the rocks. They've been here every day.
