"Supergirl" and "Crisis on Earth-X" Cross post from G-D

I am not a big fan of shows with lots of biff, bam, knockem-sockem action but have become a dedicated watcher of "SuperGirl." First I like the protraying of strong women, not just those with super powers and the interaction of the characters. They are multi racial, multi gender and more then terrestrial beings good and bad with all sorts in between. They have not shied away from lots of controversial topics which can be extrapolated to our political realities.

The "Crisis on Earth-X" pulled out all stops. The main thing is that real heroes stand together against NAZIs. In the mulitverse one Earth X the NAZIs won and wanted to take over other worlds. Lots of biff, bam, knockem-sockem action but it was well worth watching 4 hours including commercials over 2 days.

Are the writers of these shows playing to the sentiments of young people. I am 67 so am a bit removed. My generation knew that the NAZIs were ever the enemy- it appalls me that so many of a similar age have forgotten what our Dad's fought and lots died for.

It has a very progressive outlook, and even gets in an occasional, not very subtle, dig at Trump.

Over the last two seasons it seems Super Girl has taken on Trump and his policies, especially last season. The writers seemed to take on a number of Trump's stances. In at least one episode they took on the issue of departing illegal aliens. You could tell the episode was really a commentary on Trump's policy of deporting dreamers. The whole season seemed to be about resisting and persisting. So, yes, Super Girl has been taking on right wing ideas. The show seems to be doing a very good job.

Although, I think DC Comics (company that makes Super Girl) and the Justice League has always seemed to have a liberal bent. I am fairly young, but I remember watching episodes of the Justice League cartoon and seeing a liberal message. The cartoon was always in support of aliens and fighting against right wingers who wanted to take people's rights away in order to more easily attack the aliens.

As far as I know only reruns of the Justice League play on TV. However, if it was still playing and it was true to is past, I think the Justice League would be an anti-Trump TV show.
