"DIRECTV Now" Questions

Started my one week free trial today of "DIRECTV Now" and after some fiddling around I sort of have it figured out.

I see a "guide" to the shows, but I see nowhere that tells you what each show may be about.

For instance a movie's title, but no plot, who's in it, etc.

Also, I can locate Fox News, etc, but not the local Fox affiliate, which carries some shows I like, and is listed as a channel I should get.

Appreciate helpful suggestions.

Thanks

for about a year and it does have some quirks. The guide varies its look depending
upon which device you are using it on. We use it on PC, Chromebook, Apple TV and
Amazon Fire Stick. It gives a show synopsis on the Apple and Amazon, not sure about
the pc (I don't use it much that way). You have to right arrow from the main channel
selection to the actual show you are wanting to view to get the information about the
show.

As to the local affiliates, I don't think we get them all, CBS and ABC, they have
occasionally changed for some (probably contractual) reasons overnight...so weird. There
are times when a particular channel won't seem to work at all for an hour or so and
some days of more buffering on some channels. Direct TV Now works better (for us) on
a wired network connection as opposed to wifi, but both generally work ok.

We got it with the $35 for "life" package they offered when it first came out so we are
keeping it. Still cheaper than cable or sat (we have had both) and with a decent internet connection
(ours is 50Mbs down and 10Mbs upstream) it fits our needs. We also use NetFlix and PBS
online quite a bit and have antennas(indoor flat ones) that usually pick up several channels
including the local ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and PBS...Hope this helps...

My cheapest Comcast cable package doesn't have the news channels
and I'm a news junkie.

A couple of other things...you can only run two streams at a time on different
devices and if you want to switch a device you have to wait a few minutes (seems
like about 15 or so) before the new device will connect. Also, for some
weird reason we got the affiliates (ABC, CBS or whatever) from a city 200 miles
away instead of from our city (medium size, Wichita, KS) for a few days and then
they switched back to our area...so, not perfect but works for now.

Found SlingTV and am glad we switched. Has MSNBC and a DVR (that mostly works) and not too much of my $ goes to Fox. The program previews are pretty good, though I still look up movies on IMDB before spending my time watching anything.

The DVR on DirecTV drove us insane.

Hope this counts as helpful
