What I really don't like about reality shows.

The producers want you to identify with at least one participant. They're just like you. They're like a friend. You feel outrage when they're wronged or attacked, even by fellow cast members. You feel like you know them.

And in "reality," they're abstract people with problems, challenges, maybe personality disorders.

Tell me if any of you relate to any of the Kardashian brood (or even give a shit) or any of the "Housewives", esp. Teresa Giudice? Because of their so-called reality shows, they think they're important. They expect to be recognized as celebrities. And in the final analysis, you wouldn't trust them to do the simplest things. All you need to do is to listen what comes out of their mouths.

But those at least have competition in some way. The family shows like kardashions, housewives and others just show their lives. Boring to me but people watch in big enough numbers to make them fortunes.

Like everything spewed and espoused by the GQP, it's all fake. Unreality is the accurate description. The main function of those shows seems to be to urge people to return to the cliques and mean spirited attack mode of middle school. The promotion of bullying as acceptable and appropriate for adults.

Teresa Giudice was invited to appear on "Celebrity Apprentice" in 2012. She "competed" and even though she kept screwing up, the Trumps kept on on "the team" week after week.

Later, it came out that TFG yelled at Junior for promoting Giudice to be on their show because they anticipated that she would do "something" to enhance their ratings, along the lines of flipping another table or scream at the contestants. Giudice failed their expectations by being subdued and obedient. They kept her on, believing that she'd have a meltdown eventually.

Even later, when Giudice's husband, Joe, faced deportation, she imprudently relied on TFG to keep him from being kicked out. No such luck.

KILL innocent animals for $$. Shows like Naked and Afraid (which wifey loves) are a perfect example. They kill these animals for profit...and it is disgusting.

ones involving cars. Street Outlaws" and spinoffs of that. Having been a street racer in the 1960s and never losing my love of speed I understand the competitive nature and the lengths they will go to get back out there.

The very first season of Survivor was the first. I also tuned in regularly to a reality show in NYC and how a young Italian American chef (Rocco?) got funding for his restaurant, and the operation of the business for the first few months. The interviews with staff were enlightening.

I tried watching The Voice, but I hated the segments about training the singers, etc. I didn't like rehashing of old favorites, and most of the time I wouldn't pay to see any of them.

And so interesting that it's generally rather unanimous as to which ones are creeps and which are not. Just individual intuitions from watching and then seeing many opinions on social media.
