I missed the original running of Downton Abbey

I'm now completely addicted, since I've been watching the re-airing of season 1&2.
Best.Soap.Ever.
So looking forward to season 3, but I'm not happy that Dowager Countess is leaving the cast.

I remember thinking way back, why can't the US run stuff as good as 'Benny Hill'? MerryBlooms May 2012 #2

from the very beginning, on Friday evenings,
which is terrific. I don't go out on Fridays,
and to luxuriate in the series again wraps me in pleasure.

I purchased the DVDs of both years,
and every time I see an episode, I see all the complex
relationships, and all the little details that make it so compelling.

Why can't American television do anything that good?
Granted, if you have paid cable, you get some HBO specials
but network television is a waste land of 'reality' trash.

You'd think someone would wake up to the Downton reality...

I cherish those laughs I shared with my mom back then. She was a huge fan of British comedy. Benny Hill was her favorite.

I didn't know the Dowager Countess was leaving the cast for good. Can't wait until season 3 is ready to show. I thought the original "Upstairs, Downstairs" was terrific, but this is even better by far. The Brits really do drama so much better it seems.
