TV shows I've recently watched
Derry Girls: I'm not sure this is what it was like for teenagers coming of age during "The Troubles," but it is a first-rate show. Funny almost all the time, with some very somber interludes. I guarantee that once you start you'll binge-watch the series and fall absolutely in love with all the characters.
Bad Sisters: Five sisters, very close, Dublin. (Apparently its inspiration was a Belgian series, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.) One sister is married to absolutely despicable man. So the other four sisters plan to kill him (there's a lot more, of course, and this is not a spoiler). So, the despicable husband is dead, and the insurance agent doesn't want to pay the claim because he doesn't have the money (again, that's a story point from the start, so not a spoiler), and he's intent on proving that he was murdered. It's a comedy with some dark moments - remember, the late husband was despicable - and fun to watch. It is probably two episodes too long, though.
The Gray Man: Okay, a movie, not a tv show. You know how when you see Ryan Gosling in the credits you think you can't go wrong. You can. Of course, Gosling is a hoot, but the movie is a dud. Car chases, bombs, crashing airplanes, firefights on the streets of Europe, corruption, murder, etc. All of that, and still a ho hum movie. Maybe there will be more in the franchise, though, because the bad guys definitely do not get their comeuppance.
In the Dark: Self-obsessed blind woman, guide dog training business, drug dealers, money launderers, a seemingly endless supply of corrupt cops and snitching bad guys. Not really a bingeing kind of show, since there are a lot of cringe-worthy people and scenes, so you need to take a break. Definitely not in my top-ten list of shows, but diverting and just enough weirdness to keep going with it.
Miss Scarlet and the Duke: Mystery series based in 1882 London. Daughter takes over her late father's private detective business. Her childhood friend is a London detective. Very predictable, but nice to watch (No one does period tv shows like the British, imho).

Really, really enjoying it! Seems really well done and it is just fun.
I think next I will try Derry Girls. Thanks for this post. Am always wondering what to watch next.
