The Frasier reboot is a no for me. Horrible laugh track.

Stilted, awkward dialogue. Gives vibes of a high-school play. Grammer is the only "good" actor and he's got on so much bronzer you'd expect it to start the Rudy-drip.

I will give the show a chance as I have Paramount Plus paid for until the end of the year. But, it is tough to do one tv show sequel, much less two. And the cast of Frasier was so talented it defied expectations. And, I'd agree on the abysmal laugh track in tv "comedies..." Surely they can find an alternative... ?

12. I totally agree. Frazier and Cheers were fabulous and I watched both all the time. Now that I know

more about him, I just have a hard time getting past his ugly persona. It's just me. Same with John Voight who is another totally fabulous actor. I just can't watch him any more.

7. It's a mistake to politicize an actor's acting ability

I'm not a fan of "reboots" in general simply because they're almost always a cringe-worthy failure. But an actor always wants to work and, in some cases, needs the money. We all eventually learn that you can't go to the "Stop at Willoughby."

There are a lot of talented actors who are republicans (not MAGA of course) and you can't judge their acting skills based on their politics. A good actor plays a character as it is written. Examples include a lot of A-List actors past and present. A few that come to mind are/were: Michael Caine, Kurt Russell, Rip Torn, Jane Russell, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Gary Cooper, Cary Grant and Gene Autry. I'm sure there are many, many more. Politics doesn't play a big role in most people's lives anyway.

5. I was a big fan of his character on Cheers

and watched all eleven seasons of the spin-off, so when I first heard about the reboot I was excited - for about nine seconds - when I learned it was on their stupid streaming service. Paramount already pissed me off by putting every new Star Trek property on there, so it looks like this can just be another show I'll miss.

11. I loved Frasier

I believe I watched every episode since they ran 4 episodes per weeknight on (what’s now) Catchy Comedy. I’ll give it a try. I read that Roz will appear on an episode or 2. Maybe they can persuade Niles and Daphne to come back if the first season is successful. Of course Martin (and Eddie) will be terribly missed. 😓

15. The first two episodes aired last night and I was able to watch them today.

The premise that has Frazier moving to Boston and interacting with his son and his son's (maybe?) girlfriend is as plausible and every bit as contrived as the average Three's Company episode, and I do not mean that in a good way.

The new supporting cast leaves something to be desired, and that's where this reboot fails. On Cheers and the spin-off, Frasier was interacting with dynamic characters like Diane, Sam, Lilith, Niles, Roz and his father. It was iron sharpening iron. These characters do not intrigue in the slightest and I'm not really interested in getting to know them any better. But , since we don't have Paramount, that won't be a problem.

It was disappointing, but I hope it has a nice run and everyone enjoys the resulting paychecks.
