After watching both episodes a 2nd time I'm still not liking the new Star Trek Academy...

Holly Hunter and the protagonist body builder kid particularly.

I was five or six episodes into Discovery before I finally threw in the towel, so I'll give this some more time.

If Star Trek was about anything it was about competency. The major characters were deadly efficient, who made mistakes, but knew their jobs. They had personal lives but set themselves for something greater. Current writers just don't get that. The current captain is loosey-goosey, creates a villain and loses a starship in her first half hour of the show. WOW.
