'Last Resort' Canceled: ABC Will Not Pick Up Shawn Ryan Drama
"Last Resort" has been canceled by ABC, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The most recent episode of "Last Resort" had a 1.3 rating and 5.8 million viewers. The premiere had more than 9 million viewers.
However, the show did well when ABC factors in DVR watching. In October, ABC ordered additional scripts, but didn't give an additional episode order.
According to THR, ABC will air all 13 episodes of the series.
Scott Speedman, Andre Braugher and Autumn Reeser starred in the ensemble drama about a renegade submarine crew from "The Shield" creator Shawn Ryan.
ABC also canceled fellow freshman drama "666 Park Avenue" in the same announcement.

I liked both shows. Oh well, this happens every year with new shows. I'd just gotten caught up on both and read they'd been cancelled.

(8,352 posts)This is so typical these days.
666 Park Avenue really highlights the 'evil' of the 1%, and now it is canceled.
Last Resort has some very deep themes on truth, propaganda, control, & manipulation within the government, and now it is canceled as well.
Last Resort was much better written I feel but both were a hell of lot better than say Beauty and the Beast or Revolution.
Sigh.
I liked Last Resort very much and think your description is on point. Agree about Beauty and the Beast, I've only watched a few episodes of Revolution, not enough to make a call yet.
I like 666 because I like supernatural stuff and the evil of the 1% was an added bonus.

(8,692 posts)Like both those shows. Last Resort is a nail biter. Honestly, I didn't really see it going to a second season just based on the story line. I hope they give it a great ending.
666 is my guilty pleasuree...

(32,734 posts)ABC was too bold in the naming of the show, IMO. A show named "666" on a Sunday? Really? They should know how superstitious Americans are, even horror fans!
I also watch AHS on FX. I haven't started Season 2 yet, but Season 1 was all over the place. Definitely became more dumb/painful to watch each episode. It just sucks that the good shows get canceled left and right, but shows like Revolution, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, continue on.
