But it's on hiatus right now. It is about an early television news show, the producers, writers, announcers, corruption in the police and govt.

Barely post-WWII. They cover racial issues, mobsters, etc, and slowly unravel he personal lives of the newsroom workers. It's a fairly serious drama.

Didn't quite finish it, but I liked it. (I need to get back to it, come to think of it.)

According to the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com), there was a second season, and if you have a region-free DVD player, you can probably order it from Amazon UK.

Great writing and the cast is wonderful.
Also, as someone mentioned above The Hour is excellent. Saw the first series and was addicted. Dominic West is to die for! I have the second season on my dvr- waiting for a rainy day to veg out and get my British on!
