(52,162 posts)Matthew Rhys has pulled of something very rare, last done by Michael C Hall, playing two totally different characters back to back utterly convincingly. Plus the writing is terrific.

(27,509 posts)So much screwy stuff was going on back then.
The show is really well done - good acting, music, lots of suspense.

(103,856 posts)Those types of shows run off the rails pretty easily. They have "real events" constraining them, and too much killing will start to ring quite false, and sour the whole thing.

(22,000 posts)I've gotten attached to programs in the past only to have them cancelled. I have a personal grudge against the head of CBS's Television division for canceling a show a about 8 years ago. I was that pissed.

they are pretty pissed at what the boss lady did to them.....I had no idea what the hell was going on, and I mean that in a good way!

(52,162 posts)It had to be the Russians doing the torture in the first half but the original part was the second half. Where they will take this after the horrible mistake the Russians did who knows. But I can't wait to find out.

(22,000 posts)I was completely taken when the boss walked out from around the corner. When Elizabeth started thrashing on her I was laughing. The car crash was a nice touch. I wonder how long it will take Phillip to get over her betraying him.

(7,720 posts)by this show is, were there really 'sleeper agents' like the couple depicted in this program? Somehow I doubt if my question can be answered.

(220 posts)Hi,
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/anna-chapman-russian-sleeper-agents-arrested-awarded-kremlin-top-medal-article-1.190482
There have been stories & rumors for years about what both sides were doing. The USSR did recruit the Walker family & they spied for them for years & gave away a lot of secrets for money. There was also another American that was in the CIA & was recruited by the Soviets & he gave many secrets away for money. his name was Robert Hanssen. Both of these cases are Public knowledge & you should be able to find them on the web.

(7,720 posts)I was referring to 'sleeper agents' in which a Soviet 'mole' is sent to the U.S. and attempts to live as a U.S. citizen (similar to this TV program).
Little Star
(17,055 posts)I've never seen it or the original NICS. I'm choosy about which television shows I decided to watch. I'm OCB enough so that if I enjoy the program, I'll likely make an effort to watch it and I really don't need any more 'appointment' TV. I basically restrict myself to one or fewer programs per night. I seem to be watching more cable produced original programming rather than the standard network TV stuff. The only three current episodic TV I currently watch are The Americans and Justified on FX and The Good Wife on CBS.

(7,720 posts)in the NY Daily News. I found it interesting that the Russian moles spent so much time living the good American suburban life that they never did get around to doing any real spying.
