Related: About this forumDoes anybody watch the "Walking Dead?"
At first, I didn't think I'd like it because I'm not into zombies, but they have an actual story outside of zombies. I understand we're supposed to hate the government. I admit that I don't like him. He's a monster. I keep expecting somebody to kill him (like Andrea and Rick in the past few episodes when they had their chance).
I don't care much for Rick either. Last week, he refused to help somebody who was begging for help and then came back to rob him later once the zombies already killed him. Now, he's thinking of betraying one of his own to save the entire group based on the governor's word. He's supposed to be the good guy, but he just seems too cold to me. I guess they need him that way.
I like watching Andrea. She thinks she can work out peace, but is finally realizing that the only way to solve the problem is to eliminate the government. I think the governor's top man is about to wake up too. Three more episodes left. I'm so excited. Then, in just a couple of months, I can get my true blood fix.
Any fans?

(13,429 posts)The 18-49 is the big ratings demo that shows seek and advertisers covet. This show is a huge hit with millions of viewers each week.

(4,851 posts)It is my favorite show in television right now. It is mostly a zombie apocalypse show, but the characters are so easy to love/hate, that it makes it so much more interesting.
The Governor is evil, plain and simple. He does not just abandon people, he hunts them and kills them. He is the anti-Rick. Everyone needs to make difficult decisions in the new world, but the difference is Rick sends Tyrese and his people out after giving them food and a place to rest for a few days. The Governor kills anyone he can not use. When Andrea and Michone came in, he kept them alive because they were women, but the soldiers, he killed.
I like Rick a great deal. But I think you have to see the world through his eyes. They have limited resources and at this point he was just attacked. How could he trust that backpacker not to be a plant or a spy. He did not hurt him, just left him alone to survive or not survive as if i he had never seen Rick. As for "robbing" him, since he was dead, he really had no more ownership interest in that backpack. In this world, its all fair game once you die. Also, that he thinks about betraying someone who he has known for a week or so to save his son and his fellow survivors who he has lived with for over a year, that does not seem like a bad thing. I doubt he would do it, but he has to think about it.
I really dislike Andrea. She is annoying and short sighted. She missed the signs with Shane and with teh Governor that she should have seen. I find myself liking Milton, but he also is blind to the obvious cruelty of the Governor. But for him it is self preservation. Andrea has another place to go.
It is going to be a hell of a fight at the end, and I think we will see several fan favorites die.

(3,626 posts)is that she wants to see the good in everyone. She believes in doing the right thing, and making things better, and she thinks everyone thinks like she does.
So she's slow on the uptake to identify when folks are not good and a danger.
I think though that once she does get there, she's also quick to try and rectify the situation.

(2,702 posts)They both started out wanting to do what they thought was best to help their people. Both lost someone close to them which caused them to lose their minds. If they took different paths with Rick ending up at Woodbury and the Governor ending up at the prison, I could see their roles being reversed pretty easily. Had a zombie not completely devoured his wife, I could see Rick keeping her the same way the Governor kept his daughter. I think what this show does well is show how good and evil aren't really black and white. Rick has had bad experiences with strangers, and even his best friend tried to kill him. In that world when you are responsible for the lives of not only your children but others as well, you can't pick up every guy who is stranded along the road. For all you know, he could be a scout for a group of raiders and you just showed him where you live and where all your supplies are.

(22,340 posts)I see the main difference between them is that the Governor has completely lost his humanity and doesn't seem to want to get it back. Rick, on the other hand, realizes that a lot of his humanity is slipping away from him but he seems to not want to let that go. And I think this is a great statement on the human condition--zombies or not.

(775 posts)I noticed at the end of tonight, he didn't see her. That's because he had done something very humane that not everybody on his team agreed with.
That's the only part to the ending that I liked. I cannot believe that ending. I can't even say it. It might spoil it for others.

Goblinmonger
(22,340 posts)because he knew he was losing his humanity. She became the symbol for that. The comic books get into the fact that he knows she's not real much more than the tv show (and it goes on much longer before we know he is talking to nobody on the phone in the comics).
