Thinking I might download them all and do a binge watch.

(22,264 posts)so far catching it on Charter On Demand as I tend to miss it when it is actually broadcast. Really enjoying it

(16,104 posts)It has that old school early Stephen King feel, mundane everyday events (planes, viruses, rats: "Breaking News" on CNN!) creeping epic horror coming at us.
Classy production values, Sean Astin (a hobbit and Rudy), and new rules for an old tale.
Could this grow "Walking Dead" popular?

(20,043 posts)I think this show will definitely have a following.

(22,340 posts)I really like Del Torro as a director, so that helps.
I thought the Twilight changes to the vampire mythology were just stupid. I like what Del Torro has done (I haven't read the books and may not until this show runs its course just to not spoil anything) and think the "infection"/worm concept is interesting and a nice modern look at the concept.

(20,043 posts)to sparkle. And when you add werewolves to the mix there needs to be blood and guts.
The worm thing threw me....I'm debating on reading the books before or after I watch too.

(1,945 posts)But now you all have piqued my interest. I am not a big fan of vampire stories, it just seems like they've been done to death. (oh....no pun intended!) But I am a big G D Toro fan, so that might make a difference. I guess I'll have to check one or two out and see how it goes.
(And I have to add that the sparkling vampire topic always gets my grown daughter into a rant. She insists that the Lost Boys were the last 'good' vampires.)

(4,544 posts)We're watching it. I think I like it more then my hubby does, but it is just so well acted, so well written, so well directed... it's great television.

(4,544 posts)It just seemed to flounder around. Not much made sense, and I didn't care about any of the characters (I did like the rat guy, though--the one who played Keamey on Lost). On top of that, the gore factor was a bit much for me--and I say that as a fan of shows with lots of gore, like The Walking Dead and True Blood. This was just plain disgusting. I also think the WWII/Nazi angle is a bit overused. I thought they could have been more original. All in all, I was disappointed. I expected much better from del Toro and Cuse.

(16,104 posts)where you find it.
The last episode was epic, and at the end the camera panned back and reminded us this is New York City!
"Salem's Lot" on steroids!
