I was so impressed I googled the Borgias and found out more info on them. LOL! They really did do that to Lecrecia's (spelling) Husband! LOL!
I really think that all these historical pieces are truely Top notch programming.
I also really enjoyed the first season of "Camelot" a series on Starz We don't have the premium channels on cable but we get them when released on D.V.D.

Game Of Thrones is on HBO...and available on DVD (at least from Netflix) http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Game_of_Thrones/70177064?trkid=2361637
It's excellent. Based on a series of books, which I haven't read. Found out after I started watching. Only one season so far, I think season 2 starts April 1st http://www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/new-game-of-thrones-star-hypes-up-season-2-as-bigger
I think you'd like it...take a look at the description....http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0944947/

(4,225 posts)I zipped over to amazon to order it but first season won't be released till early March!!!
Damn They knew camelot was successful but the cost and trying to work around the casts sceduals got it cancelled! Bull crap!!!! I hope another cable station picks it up. Because that is a GREAT production of the Authorian legend!!!
And One-Voice, you know as well as I do there are precious few programs that are of this caliber.
Thank you BTW for the info above and the Turn me onto "Game Of Thrones"
My husband and I got so disgusted with the networks because everytime we fell in love with a series it would get cancelled "Wolf Lake" "American Gothic" "The Dresden Files" (We have All of Butchers Books Both Series).....and alot of others! I can even remember all of them there have been so many
Lets keep our fingers crossed someone smarter will pick up the camelot series!

(20,043 posts)I thought I was the only person that watched American Gothic...I loved that show. Rick Perry reminds me of the sheriff (played by Gary Cole). Getting caught up in a series and then having it cancelled is kinda like having to give up a book right in the middle of reading.
Too many good shows have been cancelled, and replace with too many reality shows. Don't get me wrong I like some of them, Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, and some others, but it seems we're overrun with reality tv.
I hope you enjoy Game of Thrones, I really like it. I saw on the other thread you already watch the Spartacus series or I'd recommend that one.
My mom just finished getting all Jim Butchers Dresden Files, I'm going to read them too. I remember the tv show, it was on syfy right? I watch a few shows there too...Haven, Being Human, and a few others.
After you watch Game of Thrones, please post and let us know what you think.
Check out the threads on the Boss and Homeland, both from cable, and pretty good. Homeland was Showtime, and Boss was on Starz, both just ended their first seasons. We'll keep you busy till True Blood. LOL!

(4,225 posts)Its even BETTER then The t.V series! Oh Oh Oh If you and your Mom Like the Dresden Files Books You both will also like ...
Kim Harrison's The "Hollows" book series Its just a matter of time before T.V or Movie. LOL! The first book is "Dead Witch Walking" Her web site is WWW.KimHarrison.net
Also Simon Green's the Nightshade series!!!! Matter of fact We have quite a few really good book series that is in this Genra I can recommend.
I just love finding a kindred spirit!!!!!! YAY!!!!!
This may sound sick but I thought Gary Cole was very sexy as the evil sheriff in Amercan Gothic! LOL!
You know what other series was really great until the writers screwed it up the third season was Millineum!
The first season centered more around serial killers and profiling them But the second season really rocked when it put in paranormal cases and the Super bug!
I watch Haven Too!
Which 'Being Human" do you like better? The English or American versions? We have both! I love the English one better but mr Howler likes them both the same.
Game Of thrones sounds Great And I will definitly let you know.... besides we are going to want to talk about it anyways! LOL!
I will check out the programs on The other threads Too Thanks One-Voice!!!

(20,043 posts)series...I've read the first 3 I think and have all but the last few. I'll get back to reading them. I hope they make a tv series or movie out her her series. I also like Laurell K. Harrison...the Anita Blake series, the earlier books were better, but I still read her. I've read every book in the series, it's like crack to me. I also like Jeaniene Frost "night huntress series". Supernatural movies, tv shows and books are a guilty pleasure, though I read all genres.
I'm heading over to Amazon to look up Simon Green...I've heard of him, but haven't read any YET...LOL
Oh man I loved Millennium, that was a shoot off from an episode of X-Files, they crossed over a few times. Lance Henrikson was very good in that. I used to watch Profiler too, another one that was cancelled too soon.
I prefer the American version of Being Human, my hubby won't watch any of those types shows with me. He hates them. We have another group of shows we watch together.
We will have to keep each other up to date on new shows, authors etc, we do have similar tastes.
Howler
(4,225 posts)Laural went a little to much into makeing sex the center piece of her story lines instead of a confection in a really good story line. But she was one of the first and I venture to say One of the very best in this genra until.....well you know! lOL!
Oh Youve gotta catch up on harrisons Series I swear She justs get better and better! After the latest book in this series Mr Howler and I were "What? wait a minute! don't stop now"!!!! LOL! The Pale Demon just blew me away! (Luckley Mr Howler and I both have very simular taste in Books and alot but not all movies and t.V.series)
There is also Richelle Mead and her Succubus series
Kalayna Price and her grave witch series.
Phaedra Weldon The Wraith also called the Zoe Martinique investigations series.
The retriever's series by Laura anne gilman
The Grey walker series by Kat Richardson
OMG!!!! We do have alot in common , I'm going to check on Jeaniene Frost "night Huntress series"! There is nothing I like better then New book authors and really good new programs!!! Thanks for the heads up!
The profiler sounds vaguely familar..... Its just out of reach.......hmmm oh well.
The boss looks really interesting. going to check the release dates on the D.V.Ds YAY!!!! Another Score Curtesy Of One-Voice!!! Woot!
I also enjoy other genras too. I love a good historical novel,Sci Fi,Fantasy, I also really LOVE the classics I blasted through Mark Twains entire body of work some summers ago lol! (Well except for a collection of his unprinted works released Last year about this time)
Yes Lance Henrickson is a very compelling actor and in That series he was excellent!!
I will definitly be checking in here regularly to talk with you One-Voice! Its not everyday that you not only make a new friend but get to get introduced to really good programing and Book Authors too! Its kismet I' tell ya!!!

(20,043 posts)I love finding someone else that reads/watches the same things as I do.
You're right about LKH, that's why I said her earlier works are better. I can't help myself I've got to know what happens next. I've not read her Meridith Gentry series.
I'm going to go through my books and find some more authors for you, thanks for the recommendations. I could spend all day looking at new stuff to read.
Adrian Phoenix 'the makers song' series was very good, it had a little bit of everything in it. Angels, demons, vamps, etc.
L.A. Banks, 'vampire huntress legend' this series I found particularly interesting, because it had a lot of factual content in it. It involves, God, the devil, all kinds of stuff. Not a light read, but very interesting. Don't let the "vampire huntress' throw you on this. It's an excellent series.
Patricia Briggs "Mercy Thompson"...I've read all but the last two.
OMG...this is gonna be so much fun!!
Howler
(4,225 posts)Thats right. OHHHHH I LOVE L.A.BANKS!!!! Vampire Hunters with an Ethnic flavor and Urban language! Oh I love her! Now she knows how to spin a story!!!
I love her take on the Goddess's and men!!!! Yes! She goes very deep into the Occult sciences and Mythos. She Rocks! It took me a second to get used to the more hip street talk but once you adjust and catch the rythem of her story line WOW what a ride! And talk about An Empowered WOMAN/WOMEN!!!! WOOT!!!!
After the first book there is no adjustment because you just want to see where she is leading you!
LKH's Meridith Gentry series the one about The Fairy courts????
OH! OH! OH! No I've never read Adrain Pheonix But I am going to NOW!!!!! LOL! Woot! Thank you!!!!!! Please don't take this wrong..... But I Think I love you One-voice.
Patricia Briggs Going to get Now!!!!
YEAH! I think we are soulmates! LOL! I'm so glad we meant!!!! This is going to be a Blast!!!!!
You know that stupid insipid Twighlight series is driving me crazy! Its bland, The charactors are so cloying and annoying! There are so many better authors out here that really deserve the movie rights and national exposure..... I just don't get it.
I've never met anyone else that read L.A. Banks! I love her, she takes you on a wild ride for sure! I wasn't sure at first, but I love how she brings history, and geography, myths, different religious beliefs into her work. It's amazing. And yes, KICK ASS women/woman!!!
We are soul mates, how could I take it what you said the wrong way! I love you back!!
Yes, LKH's Meridith Gentry is about the Fairies. I keep wanting to try it, but never get around to it. Always something else to read.
I just found a new author..murder/mystery Karen Rose...I like her style.
I didn't read the Twilight series, I watched the movies, and I hope this doesn't come out wrong, but I expect some blood and guts with my vamps/werewolves etc...not sparkly critters. What's that about?!?!
I think Harry Potter went darker than the Twilight series...LOL. I'm looking forward to the new Underworld movie.
I'm glad we met too! I'm reading a new author now, I downloaded it to my Kindle for 99 cents. Not too bad, kinda easy reading..Thirst Claire Farrell (Ava Delaney series book one). I go to the used book store to try new ones..unless they come recommended and now that I have a Kindle I download free/very inexpensive books. I love my Kindle but won't give up my books. I still have books I have to read. So I use both. I'm usually reading one thing on the Kindle and a book on the table. LOL!
Wow, what a good day this turned out to be. New friend, new authors....it's a good day!

(4,225 posts)I got to tell ya One-Voice its all erotica with out much of a story line . just a change of partners and the Vajay jay that saved the world. LOL!
It doesnt even have a really cool mechinism like "the Ardor" that compelled Anita Blake. I really wish LKH would return to her roots and maybe seperate the two genras. I will say this though as far as Erotica goes LKH is an excellent writer as she is with all she writes.
OHHHHHHH Karen Rose you say....another gold nugget to check out!!!!! (((Hug)))
I didnt read the Twilight series either Mr Howler did though and brought home the first movie when it was released .I fell asleep but before I did I just thought Bleeck. LOL! I'm with ya I expect Blood and Gutss and very complicated charactor motivations in my vampire, werewolf,or supernatural stories. All these wonderful writers have spoiled me.LOL!
Oh I love Harry Potter Books and Movies and your absolutely right JKRowlings does go very dark and deals with some very dark subject matter! I.E. "The superman Theory"
LOVE LOVE LOVE The Underworld series! Lucias was my faverot charactor I just love how they are giving the werewolf new life by makeing him Intelligent, soulful. Not just brutal and vicious with mad blood lust!
Thats another reason I really love "Being Human" When the werewolf charactor screams like a little girl sometimes when he's afraid or startled it just tickles me.
Hey One_Voice! you shop for books like we do LOL! Get the new Authors (I.E. ones we havent read yet) In the used book store or in a two for one sale.
Though I'm picking up your Idea on the 99 cent sale Kindle though I have a Nook! GREAT IDEA That!
This has been a very happy day!!!! A wonderful new friend to share with! Ahhhhhhhh Life doesnt get any better then this! (((HUG)))

(17,742 posts)as it was aired. Game of Thrones was just so excellent that Borgias seemed like a poorly made copy-cat, imho.
Not kidding, the parallels are striking, especially when they were aired at the same time.

Thanks for the idea Duer157099.
I googled the Borgias after watching the series and They stayed pretty true to actual events surrounding this family and their doings.
