I just looked to see what was on TV tonight, and saw on TLC there's a show named "My Son's Face Won't Stop Growing." It's followed by "My Baby's Got an Extra Head."
Who, over the age of 12, watches this shit?

I heard one person opine--and there's something to this, I think--that TLC is a "PC" freak show. Back in the old days, circuses had tents where they'd put people with physical deformities or unusual conditions, and they'd sell tickets for people to gawk at them. Now, instead of filing by them passively and staring at them, they're given a TLC show and you can gawk from the comfort of your own barcolounger. It's still exploitation, but it's better-compensated exploitation, I guess.

It seems to be Tabloid TV now.

(20,204 posts)Without "public" or government support, they had to have programing that would attract viewers, sell advertising dollars and get good payments from the cable and satellite providers. They went broke! So they evolved into the freakshow network.
