Delivery day at St. Stephen's food bank

Location: 2310 N. 56th Street by the Papago Buttes Hours 9am to noon. Photo identification is required and that is a requirement by DES.

Good news - families can now come each week to get a food box, meat, dairy and veggies. The fourth Wednesday is the best day to come as it says in the title it is delivery day. Last Wednesday we ran out of eggs and meat.

If you live in the area St. Stephen's could use donations of water, cat and dog food. Travel size shampoos, soaps and deodorant are in short supply. These items as well as the pet food are supplied by those who attend St. Stephen's. The church will be giving away summer survival kits next month.

Edited to add that St. Stephen's is affiliated with St. Mary's Food Bank.

Today we served 63 families! That is the largest group of families since we opened back in the 1990s. I don't know how many people but we had several families between 7 to 10 members.

That being said we have also had new families ever since we were reopened during the COVID crisis. Today there were two new families both had 5 members in the family.

Since St. Mary's Food bank changed the policy for two boxes a month to a box each week we see many families on a weekly basis. Some are senior citizens, others are grandparents who have taken their children and grandchildren back into their homes. Families are working together and living together in one household.
