but the high pressure dome is in the wrong place and will be hanging around for a while longer. it is what is causing the heat and blocking the rain. plenty of moisture in Mexico, but getting blocked.

2. The Monsoons there (Benson) usually start on the 4th of July.

so you are a week late.

Ofc, AZ Monsoons are hit and miss, with some parts of the valley getting dumped on, while other parts are bone dry.

After the brief but serious rain dump, the sun returns and the water evaporates only to move on to another part of AZ and dump again.

But where it rains, it cools off the desert.

3. They can also dump a flash flood in your yard

One of those monsoon cells parked itself over my daughter's house last July and dumped 2 1/2 inches of rain in less than an hour. The yard was a disaster and they had to sump pump the yard. The folks who evaluate these things said it was a 100 year flood.

She lives on a cul-de-sac with only one storm drain so there is no place for the water to go. That storm drain is about the size of a letter slot

it won't do it again until after July 15. or it will be a poor rainy season. I have heard it both ways.

Had that “post shower humidity and smell” but it was clear and no evidence of rain. Here’s hoping it’s soon up here.

Sheeesch, your plant looks like me when it rains. I just sit out by the pool and get rained on....
And if any luck there will be a lightening show as well. One of my favorite pastimes during monsoon season.

Unfortunately, my plants are just hanging on right now. It is still HOT and DRY here in Mesa. No rain in sight.

well I was monitoring cheap shade canopies that can't handle much breeze and very little water.
