Not the Onion: Running with the Bulls is coming to Old Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. – The International Festival "Cinco de Mayo Bull Run Festival" is set to take place in Tucson from May 2 to May 4, 2025. The event will be held at Old Tucson Studios.

Adrenaline enthusiasts from across the United States will have the chance to run a quarter mile alongside 12 bulls, each weighing up to 1,800 pounds. These bulls can reach speeds of up to 40 miles per hour.

This event offers participants the opportunity to experience a thrill similar to the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain, without leaving the country. The festival will feature a weekend full of activities suitable for the entire family. Attendees can enjoy Mariachi performances, Mexican dancers, and entertainment across two stages.

A Kids Zone will offer train rides, a shooting gallery, miniature golf, and more. There will also be unlimited food and beverages, along with shopping from local vendors.

have I told the story of the riding group last October?
lady fell off her horse in the area on our road between the two wooden bridges, and since this was a well organized group they had a nurse with them, she wanted the lady to be checked out. so they called an ambulance.
well, apparently nobody teaches manual evacuation anymore and they were also afraid to drive across that first wooden bridge (that can actually be driven around) - they wouldn't come get her. so they called search and rescue and got a helicopter for her. did it take her to the hospital in Benson? no. Tucson? no. they lifted her to the corner of our road and Dragoon Road. less than 1/4 mile. loaded her in to the regular road ambulance and off to Tucson. heard she was back that night for the after-ride party.

search and rescue - out of Tombstone area I think, the sheriff's dept??? I say that because one day there was a chopper flying circles over the house and up the canyon and when I called they said it wasn't them, I looked it up on one of those flight tracker sites...and it was those guys, not the regular sheriffs, looking for some lost lunatic. I don't know what is going on out here anymore.

Goring of red hatters tripping in front of the bulls could be fun to watch.

"Alongside" the bulls? No, no, no, amigos, AHEAD of the bulls! Not "alongside."

And what exactly does "a thrill similar to the Running of the Bulls in Pamplona" mean? Similar? I dunno, I'm getting a weasel-word vibe here, and I'm already skeptical to begin with. I suspect this will not be like Pamplona.

OK, now we're talking!

Spectator tickets start at $39
Hmm... Talk to me about the unlimited food and beverages
