Phoenix ranks number one for safest drivers by population size

PHOENIX -- The annual Allstate America's Best Drivers report is out, and it reveals promising news for motorists.

Based on claims information, the report ranks America's 200 largest cities with the safest drivers and Phoenix comes in number one among U.S. cities with a population of more than 1,000,000.

are conducive to safety, I believe. I lived in Phoenix for 15 years, and felt very safe driving there compared to other cities I have lived in.

The drivers here in Tucson are terrifying. The use of turn signals is considered to be a sign of weakness. Stop lights are merely intended as suggestions. Bicyclists and pedestrians are prey. Lane usage? "If I'm in it, it's my lane. Whaddaya mean I'm on the wrong side of the road?"

but I can't deal with how slow everyone drives, it's really weird.

The main roads could use some work, it's gotten better over the years (ask an old timer what Ina used to be like) but the number of potholes and cracks on main streets like Broadway don't come off very well to visitors.

Tucson drivers are horrid - slow, don't pay attention, etc.
