Rep Gosar Abuses the Franking Privilege - Again

Last week I received yet another full-color, glossy, self-congratulating mailing from Representative Gosar (R-AZ). Sent at tax-payer expense, this supposedly informational newsletter is a pretty thinly disguised campaign mailer. And it is, I think, the fourth one I received so far this year.

At least I'm not the only one who has noticed his excessive abuse (and this was published before the latest mailing):

"With trillions in debt hanging over our posterity's heads, wars costing billions per year and, locally, schools battling to stay within their decreasing budgets, it's easy to overlook a few million dollars here and there. But it's a clear indication of the disconnect between us and our representatives in Washington that many, including our own Congressman Paul Gosar, feel they can justify sending more than 77 million pieces of mail, at a cost of just less than $28 million, during the last nine months of 2011.

Gosar did his part, far exceeding the average member's expenditure of $63,000. Our Congressman sent 366,000 pieces of franked mail at a cost of just under $171,000 during the time period."

I just write "Refused" "Return to Sender" and re-mail it. It redirects some more money to the Post Office.

It's the only time I see him get truly spitting mad. Hilarious, actually. It's even better when they call him.

4. The only thing that Congress should be allowed to mail...

is a quarterly report to every registered voter that includes:
1. Every item they voted on.
2. What their vote was.
3. Why they voted that way.
4. What votes they missed.
5. Why they missed the vote.
6. A record of every person they spoke with in any manner of official capacity, on what subject and for how long. (If they talked gov. business at a weekend BBQ, it goes in the report.)
7. How much money they spent in any offical business and how.
8. How much money they recieved in any capacity and from whom.

Actually, screw that, no mailing. It should be published on a publically accessable website, that should be WAY less expensive.
