100 YEARS AGO:

A gathering of handsome young ladies and gallant young men went to
Kendrick Mountain last week in an automobile. They arrived safely but
upon attempting to return, the sparkplug kicked the carburetor and the
inflated rubber ring which hugs one of the rear wheels exploded with
laughter -- or something like that -- and left them rambling on the rim.
They arrived back in town the next morning.
