My letter to Senator Sinema on the filibuster.....

"Dear Senator Sinema,

As long as you have been in politics, one would think you'd know never to say never.

Your declared attachment to the filibuster will come back to haunt you.

Sooner rather than later, the Republicans will use it to block something the country as a whole desperately needs and that the majority of the country desperately wants.

You will be faced with a choice: keep hugging an outdated and archaic tradition designed originally and expressly to suppress civil rights legislation and more recently evolved to give the losers power to thwart the will of the winners. Or you can choose to bring the Senate into modern governance, vote to invalidate the filibuster, and give the country an unimpeded path to achieve the goals the majority of its people have set.

I urge you to be prepared to act to kill the filibuster when your country needs courageous action over obstructive courtly comity."

Sinema definitely weighs her political options. She might be persuadable given the right circumstances, but I doubt Manchin is.

Didn't save it, but it said some similar things,,,,

for now we need to stand together to get things done for the good of everyone.

Hopefully there are others doing the same communications with her.

filibuster rule is a non starter..she needs to realize, (I'm sure she does)..she needs to be reminded..AZ is turning BLUE..so don't get caught on the wrong side of history..

Thank you for your letter to Sinema..

(I read she met with the turtle to tell him personally she will not support a change to the filibuster)..I don't believe it..that sounds like ninja in camp..

Dear Senator Sinema

I have supported you since you came to a presentation at the Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict at ASU (where I worked) and I learned who you were. I was thrilled when you became my Representative in the House and even more thrilled when you won your Senate seat. That is why I am so deeply disappointed at your attitude about the filibuster.

You KNOW the Republicans will use it to block any action just so they can make Biden look bad and prevent him from enacting legislation the majority of Americans want. They did it with Obama and they will do it again. You also know that they would get rid of it in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed.

As a supporter of LGBTQ rights, you should know better than anyone how the filibuster has been used to block civil rights legislation time and time again.

I am fed up with the party which represents a minority of Americans having outsized power. It is bad enough that every Democratic senator represents about 3400 voters while every Republican senator represents about 2900 - retaining the filibuster allows the people who represent the fewer number of American citizens to have an even larger say in what laws are passed in this country, even laws that the majority of citizens want.

I repeat - I am deeply disappointed in your decision and feel that your position does not represent me or the majority of Arizonans who voted for you. Please consider changing your mind.
