Why do you think Arkansas switched so quickly to a red state?

Just 10 years ago they had 2 Democratic Senators and a Democratic Governor just served 8 years.

Both senators lost reelection by double digits. I find this strange because they were reelected previously and did not do anything to warrant going from being reelected multiple times to ousted by 20 points.

Do you think this drastic move away from the Democratic Party in such a short period of time is because Barack Obama is President or perhaps increased polarization between the 2 parties on social issues?

Abortion, gay marriage, guns, and taxes also figure prominently.

Just like all the rest in the South. Currently run by churches & bigots.
Much of the South was Dem a few decades ago. Once the Repukes commandeered the churches, the South quickly turned blood red. I'm waiting for them to wake up & realize that they have been betrayed by carpetbaggers who high-jacked their belief system & used it against them. Should be fun to watch.

because they had had enough. I didn't vote for Mark Pryor because I voiced my opinion on ACA--I oppose it--and he went the other way. Just that simple. Both major parties have abandoned me as a voter and share responsibility for the mess we're in. So, I made a point of finding candidates other than Dem's I could support. I did vote for Mike Ross because I like him.
