This will go well. In another extremely dangerous fire season for SoCal, one city thought it would be a good idea to drop its ban and start allowing sale and use of fireworks again. The largest fireworks stand in the state has already set up there, and the pyrotechnics are going like hotcakes.

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) For the first time in nearly 30 years, the city of Anaheim is selling fireworks and allowing residents to use them.

The ban of fireworks in the city of Anaheim took place in 1986 after a major fire which destroyed homes and property.
Fifty-five percent of Anaheims voters approved a measure allowing the city council to regulate the sale and use of fireworks again.

The city along with the fire department is urging people to use the fireworks safely. Especially during the drought and dry conditions.
The Anaheim Fire Chief has expressed his concern and in a statement says, Lets all remember to do our part and celebrate this Fourth of July with care.

The city has turned the Honda Center into the largest fireworks stand in California. It will be open all week including on the 4th of July. The city says `(m)ost of the sales will support local non-profit organizations.

(3,208 posts)Fireworks have always been legal in the county I live in. A few years ago, we had a very dry year (it hurt to even walk on the grass, loss of many established plants) That year, without even being told, hardly anyone was doing fireworks privately. Usually, every night from mid-June to after the Fourth there is something going on every night. Although that has slowed down very much since incomes have gone down and prices have gone up.
