It was only a matter of time. A few weeks ago, when the California state Republican Party announced Sen. Ted Cruz would speak at its upcoming convention at the end of the month, we asked ourselves: can Donald Trump be far behind?...

Trump, the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, will speak at lunchtime during the GOP state convention on Friday, April 29, at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame, conveniently located within sight and sound of San Francisco International Airport.

Will he dare venture north into the hostile snakepit of San Francisco, perhaps to visit his property (and where he in fact has donors)?

Believe it or not, California is Trump Country. Lest you thought state GOP voters were the sensible abortion-banning type like John Kasich, or the creepy fundamentalist type like Cruz, it appears local Republicans are definitely the screaming-tweeting type.

Starry Messenger lives right across from the convention center. This may not end well.

I'd go and protest or create a protest. I know exactly where that is. He can get in/out of the Bay Area within minutes.

They should have picked Modesto or Fresno. Burlingame is close to the geographical center of the Bay Area.
