Federal election officials question Rep. Duncan Hunter campaign's identification of donors

This past March, James H. Hunter of Eagle, Idaho, made two $2,700 contributions to the campaign to re-elect his nephew, Rep. Duncan D. Hunter, R-Alpine.

Hunter’s campaign reported the contributions on a financial disclosure report to the Federal Election Commission, but claimed it did not know — and was unable to find out — his uncle’s employer or occupation.

The Federal Election Commission sent a letter to Hunter’s campaign treasurer this week informing him that “information requested per best efforts” is not an acceptable answer to the question of a contributor’s occupation or employer — information that was missing not just for Hunter’s uncle on Hunter’s campaign forms.

James H. Hunter and his wife, Jan, are the founders of Boise Hunter Homes, a development company they have headed for more than a decade, according to the company’s website and business filings. James H. Hunter is among more than 90 donors for whom Hunter’s campaign has reported employer and occupation as “information requested per best efforts” since 2007, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune’s review of FEC records. Their contributions totaled more than $67,000.

Messages about Hunter's corruption trial looming, and him blaming his wife, have gotten out there and a lot of Republicans are saying they won't vote, or will vote for Campa-Najjar. Hunter still has a loyal following but I'm told by GOP insiders that their party is worried he could lose.

The poll was commission by Campa-Najjar's campaign, but coupled with what I'm hearing from voters and officials locally, Hunter is in a desperate battle to hold onto his seat (which he'll be losing soon anyway once convicted).

I'm pointing out to Republicans that if he wins and is convicted, they will be stuck paying for a special election and then a run-off race if there are more than 2 candidates, so fiscally it's smarter to just vote him out now.

Republicans lack the cognizance to know what they should do as responsible people. They are human drones who do not have morals or ethics. They just do as they are programmed by their masters even though it is ethically and morally wrong. Good luck to those in that RED California district. I live in a RED district in California and they keep electing the same phony person year after year without thinking about what he DOES not do in congress. The republican breed uses herd ethics which is elementary and lack basic human social qualities.....
