and now a dry may and start of june are creating the worst summer fall fire season conditions

in March I was traveling over the Altamont and reveling in how the green was erasing the black and grey from the last fire season... and now it is universally brown... a bit early for it to be sooo brown.

By July of this year it will reach that point so being so dry and so much dead grass and brush that if you stare at it hard it will spontaneously combust before your very eyes.

Looks like we’re gearing up for another bad year. Just a quick glimpse at the CalFire site showed at least six fires going today. Many are small, but it speaks to your point about the flammability of our hills.

First 100+* weather is supposed to hit our area Sunday-Monday.

500 firefighters, 35 engines, 5 bulldozers, 4 helicopters.

20 mph winds driving it in steep, brush covered terrain. Supposed to hit 95* there today.

No containment yet.

I was lead to believe the fire was near Esparto yesterday.

The wind has abated a bit, but not by much, and temperatures are still high

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection says the fire near the community of Guinda in Yolo County has grown to 2,220 acres. The fire is 20 percent contained.

I like to think they mostly have a handle on this one and can knock it down soon, That is, is the wind that has mostly calmed down, doesn't kick back in overnight.

It’s supposed to be 103-104 through Wednesday, so it would be a big help if the wind calmed down.

Thanks for the update, Brother Buzz.
