In a Motel 6 now, not far from Sacramento.

Today, we went to the Golden Gate, then to Muir Beach, (saw the ocean, and waded into it!) and Muir Woods, saw the redwoods there.

Early in the morning I head out, going back home to Sheboygan.

I spent a few hours on that post for ya ... but it didn't appear you saw it.

Where'd you end up 'wading into the ocean'? Edit: Oh, Muir Beach. Great spot.

Did you drive into the City over the Bay Bridge? Or ... at all?

Didn't see any of the famous cable cars or Lombard avenue, but saw the different docks.

Sounds like you drove along the Embarcadero and Marina sections (from the Bay Bridge over to the GG), then drove over that?

That's a very nice drive too, gives a lot of the SF flavor.

What'd you think of our City by the Bay in your limited sojourn through her?

Heading home now, in Minneapolis waiting for my flight to Milwaukee.

From there, home to Sheboygan.

I will post my travel pictures over the weekend.

if you have access to a car, Portola Redwoods State Park on the peninsula or Cowell Redwoods State Park near Santa Cruz have nicer redwood groves and a lot fewer visitors - and not nearly as many tour buses!

So you waded in the ocean off Marin county - can you feel your toes yet?

to go to the beach! It's those currents coming down from Alaska that keep the coastal areas cool. There are very few places north of Point Conception near Santa Barbara where you can comfortably go in the ocean for more than a few minutes without a wet suit. On the plus side, it keeps us cool for most of the year and lets the Salinas Valley grow lettuce year round.
