Next 10: Budget Challenge. A nonpartisan budget simulation

http://www.budgetchallenge.org/pages/home

What Are Your Priorities For California's Budget?
For the first time in a decade, California's budget is largely in balance. However, the state has outstanding debts of $28 billion not counting long-term pension and retiree health care costs. Budget choices affect us all. Take the Challenge and decide how much should be spent on programs and where the money should come from.

My Review: I like their approach. They take all options on the table for an issue, give a link to background about the issues, and give a pro-con assessment with an amount that it will change the budget by the state agency that makes those numbers.

There is also a link to the somewhat older Federal budget challenge, which has a similar layout.

The really sad part of the federal one is how easy it is to get a sane and balanced federal budget but knowing it would never ever pass the House.
