Medi-Cal 2026 Asset Limit Changes

Last edited Tue Oct 21, 2025, 08:46 PM - Edit history (1)

Medi-Cal rules for certain programs serving older adults and persons with disabilities are changing in 2026. Join CANHR to learn about changes to the Medi-Cal asset limit, what assets are included in Medi-Cal asset limit, what assets are included in Medi-Cal eligibility, and whether you may need to do something to keep your Medi-Cal services.

*******
It seemed to be too good to be true, that all elderly, disabled or blind, Californians would be eligible for Medi-Cal.

This has been changed due to a budget shortfall. If you are blind, disabled it will change effective Jan. 1, 2026.

This truly sucks for those that have a few bucks in the bank and haven't liquidated their assets so they can still qualify for Medi-Cal.

This not good news and it will make health care more difficult to access for certain Californians.

SHAME.

Thanks for nothing Gov. Newsom.
