California
Related: About this forum1/2 to 3/4 inches of rain in my back yard. Time to celebrate in Southern California.
Just thought I would start the day on a positive note.
How much rain did you get?
And considering how many times the rain was mentioned during the Red Carpet section of the Oscars, I thought I would let the world know how very little for most parts of the country but how very much for us here in SoCal it was.
See. It isn't a matter always of what you have. Sometimes it is a matter of how much more you have than you had before. We don't get much rain, but for us it is like gold falling out of the sky. We value every milligram.

(57,936 posts)I hope you get righteously soaked. That means just the right amount. We don't want mud slides anywhere.
Santa Barbara is so beautiful.

(39 posts)drought become national news. The only news is the horrendous snow storms in the North East. This drought, will no doubt impact the country, this summer with the lack of suitable produce from Northern California.

(78,249 posts)And welcome to DU! Yes, some acreage is being left fallow, but a lot of farmers are using groundwater -- for now. If this keeps up too many more years that, too, will run dry.

(6,119 posts)many in MN don't really know what that means, but I'm originally from Central CA so I do know what it means.
It is going to be a rude awakening for many people.
but I"m glad it is in the Minneapolis and St Paul papers and on their news.

It's not much rain, but our climate knows what to do with it. You'd think it had rained buckets.
Enjoy, dear Peggy.

(18,791 posts)In Harbor City...about 2:45A, when it sounded like the roof was going to cave in, got up to watch the flood running down the street.
Too bad it always comes down like this and not a good shower (at night, please!) every couple of weeks.
