D.C. police are looking for at least 10 suspects in a brutal assault that took place outside a Hilton hotel on Connecticut Avenue NW. The assault occurred on July 14, and police released surveillance footage of the incident on Wednesday.
The video shows a large group of people, whom officers said in a police report are teenagers around 13-14 years of age, attacking a man as he tries to walk into the hotel around 1 a.m. on July 14.
The two victims were walking into the hotel that night when they saw a group of juveniles standing on a nearby corner, according to the police report. One of the assailants allegedly yelled thats him, pointing to one of the victims. The other victim tried to intervene, saying thats not him, you have the wrong person, per the police report. The group then began attacking the first victim, brutally beating him just outside the hotel door, per the video.
In the video, the assailants can be seen punching and kicking one of the victims. One of them stomps on his head, and as the group begins to leave, another stops to spit on the victims as he lies on the ground.
The first victim suffered injuries to his head and his left eye socket, according to the police report. The other had a swollen left eye. Both were treated for their non-life threatening injuries at a hospital.
Police are searching for at least 10 assailants around 13-14 years old, both males and females.
