D.C.-area forecast: A cloudy, brisk Mother's Day, with sunshine Monday

Flood warnings in effect for parts of parts of the upper and tidal Potomac River.
10:15 a.m. — Flood warnings in effect for Potomac River
The storminess since Friday is resulting in high water on area rivers. Flood warnings are in effect for portions of both the tidal (lower) and upper Potomac River.
On the tidal Potomac, the potential flooding is due to winds pushing water toward the shore as well as stormwater coming downstream; the flood risk is highest around high tide.
Here is the advisory and warning information for the District:
A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today for up to one foot of inundation above ground level.
A coastal flood warning is in effect for one to two feet of inundation from 10 p.m. tonight to 6 a.m. Monday.
Shoreline inundation is anticipated “along portions of the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road, and near the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial,” according to the National Weather Service. Water may also “begin to bubble up through storms drains near Washington Harbor” in Georgetown, the Weather Service said, and the harbor will flood if “floodgates are not in place."
* Guess this will keep me away from further south, for a few days anyway: Coastal flood warnings and advisories are also in effect for shoreline areas of St. Mary’s County in Southern Maryland into Monday.
Because of all the recent rain, flood warnings are in effect along much of the upper Potomac River northwest of the District, including for Little Falls and Point of Rocks until tonight.
